At Wildlands Network: Lisa Lauf Rooper has been a communications consultant for Wildlands Network since 2004. She is editor of the Wildands Connection newsletter; leads branding, strategic and messaging efforts; writes, edits and co-develops numerous organizational electronic, video and print pieces; oversees the creation of Wildlands Network’ website (present and future); participates in staff meetings and conferences; and acts a lot like an employee even though she operates her own business, Sage Communications.
Off the Clock: Lisa has spent the better part of the last nine years moving between coasts and countries. She has finally found “home” with her Canadian husband and two stepchildren on Vancouver Island, BC. Enjoyment usually involves being outdoors; kayaks, bikes, hiking shoes, tennis racquets, running shoes, dogs on a leash, gardening tools or a well stoked campfire are prized equally.
Background: Lisa has a B.S. degree in marketing from Fairfield University in Connecticut and grew up in the advertising field under the tutelage of her father. He also bestowed a love of animals and Nature upon her; thus, she ended up with a career deeply focused on both. She worked under the marketing arm of the Anheuser-Busch Theme Parks as public relations director, conservation team member, and director of broadcast initiatives. She went on to work in television production developing, selling, producing and writing wildlife and children’s shows for Discovery, Travel Channel and international Syndication. She has run her own business for nine years with clients ranging from zoological institutions and conservation non-profits to publications and film producers.
The mission of Wildlands Network is to ensure a healthy future for nature and people in North America by scientifically and strategically connecting networks of people restoring and protecting networks of wildlands.
