Private Landowner Opportunities

Your land is North America's future.

The Wildlands Network’s strategy for protecting private lands is to provide private landowners in recognized conservation planning areas with the information, incentives, and other resources needed to initiate voluntary actions resulting in protection or restoration of the ecological values of their properties.

The Wildlands Network’s private lands program is implemented through direct mail and website communications, private lands conservation workshops, collaboration with agency officials and other conservation organizations, and targeted outreach – all of which are intended to encourage private landowners to take voluntary actions to protect and restore the ecological values of their properties.

Protection options promoted through these efforts include: protecting private wildlife habitat and native wildlife species through taking advantage of federal, state, and local programs that pay landowners for conservation of their lands; through sale or donation of conservation easements to land trusts or conservancies; through adoption of management regimes that protect ecological property values; or through sale or donation of land to conservation buyers.
