Cecilia Aguilar
Sonora Project Manager

As Sonora Project Manager, Cecilia helps achieve the goals of our Highway 2 project, participating in field trips for wildlife monitoring, collecting and interpreting GIS data, interacting with landowners and conservation groups, and organizing road ecology workshops.

Cecilia studied biology at the Universidad de Sonora, where she was involved in research and conservation of local reptiles and amphibians. She has participated in many biological expeditions covering almost all of the state of Sonora, but she fell in love with the Sky Islands region when she did an internship in the Bavispe Natural Protected Area, where after a year she was hired as a wildlife monitoring assistant. She helped monitor the beaver and prairie dog populations in the San Pedro River, where she also participated in wet/dry mapping exercises. Cecilia also gained field experience while participating in Madrean Discovery Expeditions, dedicated to exploring, studying, and protecting the Madrean Archipelago.

Cecilia aspires to live a life dedicated to working toward the conservation of reptiles and amphibians in the Sky Islands area. Cecilia enjoys playing with her Alaskan malamute, going out on field trips, listening to music, watching baseball, drinking coffee, and eating chocolate. She is also a passionate sunset hunter. Her dream is to live in the middle of a forest.
