Natural Protected Areas Face New Cut in Conservation Budget

As part of our work in Mexico, Wildlands Network coordinates a coalition of organizations Northwest Civil Society for Environmental Sustainability (NOSSA), whose members work to achieve a shift towards more sustainable environmental policies in Mexico. Recently, the Federal Expenditure Budget Project (PPEF) for 2022 was released. If the PPEF 2022 is approved, the National Commission of Natural Protected Areas (Conanp) would face a real cut of 1.2% in its budget. In addition, only two pesos per hectare will be allocated to the Program for the Protection and Restoration of Ecosystems and Priority Species (PROREST).
